Printers in Singapore hear the same request every week: can you make this photo look good? Sometimes the answer is easy. Sometimes the image is a dark, blurry screenshot and there is only so much anyone can do. The rule is old but true: what comes out depends on what goes in. That applies just as much when the print ends up on fabric your dog wears.
Three things printers look for
Light. Even, natural light is the single biggest help. A photo taken near a window in the daytime shows fur colour and markings clearly. Flash tends to flatten features and turn eyes into bright dots.
Focus. The face should be sharp. Zoom in on your phone screen: if the eyes and nose blur when enlarged, choose another shot. Sharpness matters more than megapixels.
Framing. Fill the frame with the face. A dog that is a speck in a wide park scene gives very little to work from. Head and shoulders, looking roughly towards the camera, is ideal.
From photo to fabric
Once you have the right picture, the rest is straightforward with a personalised dog bandana. Send in that one picture and select a look; your pet then gets illustrated from it to suit, with the name built into the layout. The completed artwork shows up for you to inspect, and only after you approve, and before you pay, does anything get produced.
Production happens in Singapore, made to order. Being 100% polyester, the bandana suits sublimation, a process where heat drives the dye deep into the fibres. It fastens with a buckle and comes in three sizes: S suits necks of about 35–44 cm, M about 39–51 cm and L about 42–56 cm. It is made to be washed.
A quick pre-upload checklist
- Daylight, no harsh flash.
- Eyes and nose in sharp focus.
- Face filling most of the frame.
- Nothing blocking the face: hands, toys or leash.
Why the effort pays off
A printed bandana with a generic pattern can be made from any stock file. One built around your own dog, like the ones Little Red Cute produces, depends on your photo, and a few minutes spent choosing the right picture is what turns a nice idea into a print you will be glad to see on every walk.
